Winsly vs Perform Review: review drafts, or a promotion case

Choose Perform Review if review season is the job: you write self, peer and manager reviews, you log from Slack, and you’d rather pay per season. Choose Winsly if you’re working toward a promotion: the bar in your manager’s words, a case where every line shows its source, practice before you ask, and the same record for a job search.

What Perform Review does well

  • It meets you in Slack. Log a win with a /log command or a message to its bot, and get reminders from weekly to twice a year (Perform Review). Winsly doesn’t capture from Slack.
  • Reviews of other people, too. It drafts self, peer and manager reviews, keeps a log for each person you review, and exports a batch if you manage a team (Perform Review). Winsly is for your own record only.
  • A guide for the hard conversation. Its coach guides for a promotion or raise talk give talking points from your strongest evidence, the gaps, likely pushback with responses, and a script to say out loud (Perform Review).
  • You can pay by the season. Credit packs start at $3.99, the credits never expire, and a 90-day pass is $24.99 (pricing).
  • Free help before you sign up: example logs and review phrases for about 180 job titles, and a review wizard you can use as a guest.

Where Winsly is different

  • The bar in your manager’s words. Perform Review drafts against your company’s review questions and a goal you set. Winsly starts from what your manager said the next level takes, and shows which wins prove each part and what isn’t shown yet.
  • Every line shows its source. Each line of your review case and self-review points to the win it came from, checked before you see it. Perform Review’s log fills in its drafts; it doesn’t describe citing each line.
  • Wins your colleagues confirm. Perform Review can email a colleague to ask for feedback. In Winsly, someone who saw the work confirms or corrects a specific win, and their name goes beside it in your case.
  • Practice, out loud. On the Advisor plan, you rehearse the conversation against someone who pushes back the way a busy manager would, then see how you did.
  • One record, every move. If the next level is somewhere else, the same wins find roles and write applications.

Who should choose which

  • Perform Review if review season is the job: you write several reviews a cycle, your work lives in Slack, and you’d rather pay per season than per month.
  • Winsly if you’re working toward a promotion: the bar your manager set, a case where every line shows its source, colleagues who back your wins, and practice before you ask.
  • Both works for managers: Perform Review for the reviews you write about your team, and Winsly for your own record and your own next level.
