Best promotion coach on a budget: CareerClimb

CareerClimb is an iPhone app for people going for a promotion or working through a performance improvement plan. Its coach, Summit, talks with you by voice, knows your manager and your review date, and saves wins as you speak once you confirm them. Photograph your company’s promotion criteria and it turns the gaps into steps, then exports a promotion case, a self-review or a manager update.

It’s the closest product to Winsly, at half the price of Pro: $9.99 a month or $79.99 a year, with a free tier. It’s iPhone only, works from your company’s document rather than what your manager said, and doesn’t search for roles. It’s also new, with 1 App Store rating so far. More in Winsly vs CareerClimb.

Best for thinking out loud: Blomma

Blomma is a private AI coach for people whose employer doesn’t give them one. You talk a problem through by chat or voice, set goals it holds you to, and see your patterns over time. It coaches from a performance review or development plan you upload, and reads Granola meeting notes. It launched in April 2026 with a seed round of more than $5M led by Felicis.

It’s $25 a month or $250 a year. It’s a coach more than a record: there’s no wins log tied to a bar, no cited review case and no job search. More in Winsly vs Blomma.

Best for advice built on your own record: Winsly

Winsly keeps your wins, a bar for your next level in your manager’s own words, and a review case where every line shows the win behind it. On the Advisor plan, an advisor runs a CFO’s ten-year playbook on that record. It says whether this is the cycle to ask for the level or for the work that closes the gap, checks in on its own, and lets you practice the promotion conversation, scored afterward. It never claims to be a person.

The Advisor plan is $50 a month or $500 a year, the most you’d pay yourself for anything here. Your first 14 days on Pro ($20 a month) include the advisor, and Free keeps the record. It’s web only, and you add wins yourself (typed, from a screenshot or a pasted meeting, or through Claude or ChatGPT): it doesn’t pull in work from GitHub, Jira, Slack or email.

Best if your employer pays: BetterUp Grow

BetterUp Grow is BetterUp’s AI coach, sold to companies for their people. It coaches and runs roleplays, performance reviews among them, shaped to your company’s frameworks, and hands off to a human coach when needed. It works inside Slack and Microsoft Teams.

If your company offers it, it costs you nothing, and BetterUp is the most established name here. There’s no plan for individuals, it keeps no wins log, and it’s your employer’s tool.

Best for interview stories from your work: Careerscient

Careerscient turns work moments you capture by voice or text into a Career Record you can share, with the proof beside each claim, and resumes that link to it. On Pro, it runs interview practice matched to your stories. It’s on iPhone, Android and the web.

Free covers 10 captures a month; Pro is $14.99 a month or $149.99 a year. It’s built for recruiters rather than your review, with no bar, self-review or manager updates, and it’s new, with no App Store ratings yet.

Best for a job search with memory: Kairo

Kairo (heykairo.app) calls itself an AI career advisor. It remembers your career from your conversations, then writes resumes, cover letters and outreach emails, and tracks jobs and decisions. It’s web only, run by one founder.

It’s $29.99 a month or $299.99 a year, with a 7-day free trial. It’s built for job seekers, so it has no promotion tools, and interview prep is listed as coming next.

Best for practicing how you come across: Yoodli

Yoodli runs AI roleplays and gives you feedback on your delivery. It’s mostly sold to companies for sales and training, and individuals use it to rehearse interviews, pitches and hard conversations, a promotion pitch among them.

Starter is free for 5 sessions; Pro is $8 a month and Advanced $20 a month, billed yearly. It doesn’t know your record, so it helps with how you say it, and what you say is up to you.
